Life after death

The death of Scottish football is inevitable, or so the MSM media would have us believe, the newspaper columns, radio and television shows paint a picture of a footballing wilderness should Glasgow Rangers or more accurately the offspring or newco as they have been coined fail to gain a place somewhere in Scotlands football league structure. This conjures up images of football fans, scarves hanging limply from hands wandering the streets on Saturday afternoons with glazed expressions asking passers by “what happened to our game, did you see who stole the baw?”

Well I for one refuse to believe the spin. Never before in my lifetime can I remember a time when football fans have been more united in their views. This show of unity is a direct response to the nonsense being spouted by the very people tasked with promoting and safeguarding our national obsession. Posters on blogs, callers to radio phone ins, letters to papers all say the same thing;

Apply the rules without fear or favour. Punish those proven to have dome wrong. Listen to the clubs who are telling you what you are trying to do to our game is wrong.

A great example of this new found unity between fans of all teams are the group of Aberdeen fans who are going to sponsor a Raith Rovers player for the upcoming season. Raith have taken the step of publishing a letter of thanks so overwhelmed have they been with fans contacting them praising them for the stance they have taken.

I believe what we are witnessing is not the death of our game but it’s rebirth. This will have happened thanks to the actions of the fans and of honest men in charge of clubs who stand up for Integrity and fairness. Not due to the behaviour of those tasked with managing our major associations, yes you Doncaster and Regan who should be sent homewards to think again.

Chapter One

Welcome to my blog, the purpose of which is to promote the positive aspects of Scottish football. I have been inspired to create it by the actions of clubs and supporters who have placed integrity and honesty above financial gain. I hope to give a voice to these people by sharing these views with a wider community. While it is true the catalyst for this blog has been the ongoing saga of Glasgow Rangers Football club, and the impact it’s demise is currently having on Scottish football  it is not my intention to report on the day to day news this generates except where this news is of a positive nature.

What you can expect to find here are articles highlighting the following

  • Sporting integrity and merit.
  • Application of rules and regulation without fear or favour.
  • Inititives by clubs and individuals that promote a collaborative approach to the challenges facing OUR game.
  • How in my own way I hope to support clubs who place integrity above financial gain.

In summary I hope if you are reading this blog you share the same opinions as I do, please feel free to share your comments and enjoy what I hope this blog has to offer.
